MLB The Show 23 Storylines Mode Announced; Negro Leagues Partnership Revealed

MLB The Show 23 Storylines Negro Leagues Season 1

MLB The Show 23 just got a brand-new game mode announced, as well as details on what’s coming to the series’ first season. Read on for the MLB The Show 23 Storylines mode, as well as its reveal trailer.

Dubbed “storylines,” this new mode will take players on a unique narrative experience that follows the careers of legends from the league. This first season of Storylines will introduce the Negro Leagues for the first time to The Show.  Eight Negro Leagues players will be joining the full roster when the season kicks off, those being:

  • Leroy “Satchel” Paige
  • Jackie Robinson
  • Andrew “Rube” Foster
  • Hilton Smith
  • Hank Thompson
  • John Donaldson
  • Martin Dihigo
  • John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil.

As noted on the PSBlog, this announcement comes with the news that the studio will continue working with the Negro Leagues for years to come.

MLB The Show 23 (Storylines Season 1 *) introduces eight Negro League Players and their stories, narrated by Bob Kendrick. With this multiyear partnership with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, our goals align with the museums to educate, enlighten and inspire by celebrating the rich history of the Negro Leagues. Every new launch of MLB The Show represents a new Season, with it we’ll introduce a new group of Negro League Legends and their stories to pay rightful tribute to these mostly unknown baseball superstars.  MLB The Show 23 represents the inaugural season and next year’s game would be season 2.

As a baseball fan myself, this is an incredible announcement and I cannot wait to try this mode come release, which luckily is just right around the corner.

MLB The Show 23 will be released on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (day one Game Pass release) and Nintendo Switch on March 28.
