Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Devs Respond to God of War Voice Actor Dig

modern warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty devs are up in arms on social media today following a dig made by God of War voice actor Christopher Judge at last night’s The Game Awards. After Judge made a joke at the expense of Modern Warfare 3’s campaign, the Call of Duty developers were quick to respond.

The joke was in Judge’s opening speech ahead of his presentation of the Best Performance award, and you can see it here:

Last year, Christopher Judge had an infamous eight-minute acceptance speech for his award. Poking fun at himself this year, he said “fun fact: my speech [last year] was actually longer than this year’s Call of Duty campaign.” The joke got a big round of applause at The Game Awards themselves, but following the show, Call of Duty developers current and prior took to social media to voice their frustration with the dig:

Ajinkya Limaye, Former Infinity Ward Dev

Nelson Plumey, Associate Art Director at Treyarch

Darcy Sandall, Expert Engineer at Sledgehammer Games

Even Barry Sloane, the current voice actor for Captain Price, had something to say:

Clearly, the team is pretty upset at Judge’s joke. In our review, we criticized the campaign’s length as well, stating that we wished there had been more. Nonetheless, it probably hurts extra to see someone in your own industry make a joke at your expense in front of all of your peers.

Hopefully, the Modern Warfare 3 devs are still riding high off the launch of Warzone this week. If you’re interested in checking that out, you can do so here.

While there’s no new Call of Duty announcement at the show, there is one for Judge’s God of War Ragnarok, as it is getting a free “Valhalla” DLC next week.

It CAN’T be a coincidence they are all talking about that. Of course he instigated this, the GOOD GUY gamer Phil that he is.

Awww, did their wittle feewings get hurt? COD campaigns have always been short and mostly been mediocre. If they don’t like that feedback then make better and longer campaigns.

lol the COD devs roasted him. There’s a reason why everyone plays COD for years but other games are a one and done.

So people are playing cod campaigns over and over? Lol. Right. Course a multiplayer game will
be replayed.

Same mentality as the cod devs. The game sucks. People are tired of call of duty being treated like FIFA or Madden.

35 down votes and counting lol sounds like you’re in the minority. COD sales numbers may be higher but compare Metacritic scores between any COD game in the last decade and GOW. No comparison

Thank you COD, for not having a new idea or new concept for over a decade and just repackaging the same old, worn out games for over ten years. I am sure that this year’s COD release will sweep all awards next year.

COD is an cookie-cutter experience that rolls off the assembly line annually with little to no innovation.

God of War is a godamn masterpiece. Can’t even compare.
