Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone BEAST Glove Can Only Be Obtained By Spending $80

Call of Duty has a new set of crossover bundles featuring content from the recently released Godzilla x Kong film. For purchasing all four bundles, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players can receive a special “BEAST Glove” melee Blueprint, but it doesn’t come cheap: nabbing every bundle will cost you about $80 USD.

For context, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone’s new Godzilla x Kong collaboration features four individual Operator Bundles:

  • Tracer Pack: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Kong
  • Tracer Pack: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Shimo
  • Tracer Pack: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Godzilla
  • Tracer Pack: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Skar King

Each of these bundles comes with a new Operator skin, two Blueprints, a Finishing Move, and various other cosmetic items such as stickers and charms. They also each sell for 2400 COD Points, which costs $19.99 USD to purchase. On their own, this is nothing new, as this is the typical price for fully-fledged bundles on the COD storefront.

What becomes excessive, however, is the bonus reward given to players who purchase all four bundles. Players that buy every pack are also granted the “BEAST Glove” Melee Blueprint, a massive Kong fist with robotic augments featured in the movie. This is a small item on its own, but the only way to obtain it is by spending 9600 COD Points.

For those of you who haven’t done the math, that means that players need to spend a whopping $80 USD in order to get this Blueprint. It’s a simple one-off item that’s probably not worth it to 99% of players, but the fact that any content is locked behind a purchase of that size is simply egregious. Buying Modern Warfare 3 alone only costs $70, meaning that this singular cosmetic item costs more than the entire game it appears in.

We’d like to say we hope Activision moves away from these predatory microtransaction practices, but realistically, we know they won’t. Given that Call of Duty’s player count has improved significant since last year, they’ll likely keep bumping prices to milk as much as they can out of their player base. It’s a shame to see just how bad they’ve gotten.

(Thanks, CharlieINTEL!)

For those wondering what the big deal is, they are just testing the waters to see how much they can sell you by dangling an exclusive item at the end of the string. Spend $80 on stuff you don’t want to unlock the thing you do.

What if this becomes a standard practice? Want to unlock fast travel crystals in Dragons Dogma 3 – then you can only do so if you buy all four DLC packs for $100. Want to unlock an extra perk slot in Battlefield 2025? Buy 10 cosmetic packs for $15 each.
