Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Playable Early, But Only Offline; Here’s How

Modern Warfare 3 Update for November 17 Brings

Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer doesn’t officially launch until tomorrow evening, but you can already “play” it if you launch the game offline.

Yes, I know that’s not the same as playing with live players, but hey, if you wanted to look around the maps, test out some guns, and play with bots potentially, you could do so now if you pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3. It at least gives you something to do while you wait for the launch tomorrow. The method to do so is relatively easy, though it seems to only work on consoles atm, so PC players, you’re probably out of luck.

How to Play Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Early (Offline)

  1.  Disconnect the internet from your console, either via settings or unplugging the ethernet if hardwired.
  2. Boot up Modern Warfare 3. When you reach the main screen and start connecting, back out of the connection, and a failed connection error will pop up.
  3. You can now start offline play via the Local Multiplayer mode in the main menu for Modern Warfare 3.

This method works on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Again, PC players will have to wait until release to try the multiplayer.

That’s all there is to it; it’s really that easy! Again, this is offline play, with no progression available. Zombie mode is sadly not available either.

You could at least get a head start and test out weapons and such, especially for those planning on making guides. It could be a perfect way to test damage and recoil of each weapon, though the live mode may end up being different.

Also, to note, DO NOT upload any gameplay or images of playing. While it’s accessible, Activision is issuing DMCA takedowns for those who post things early. So fair warning there. Otherwise, get out there and have some fun, and we’ll see you all tomorrow during the launch tomorrow!
