In a new AMA (Ask Me Anything) posted on the (semi-official) Modern Warfare III subreddit today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 dev Sledgehammer Games revealed plans for several upcoming changes to the game. Despite all of the promised fixes, however, the team repeatedly ignored one of the most common questions: whether or not the team would change, fix, or remove, Modern Warfare 3 SBMM, otherwise known as Skill-Based Matchmaking.

The AMA thread, which Sledgehammer was live in this afternoon, is filled to the brim with questions on all sorts of topics, but most prominently, about the game’s current SBMM system and whether the team plans to change it. In fact, if you sort the thread by top comments, the most upvoted comment addresses SBMM before anything else:

This comment has nearly 1,200 upvotes, and yet Sledgehammer didn’t have anything to say in response. In fact, the top five comments all address this issue, and Sledgehammer’s radio silent on all of them. Fans are not happy about this, and they’ve taken to Twitter/X to voice their concerns:
99.99% of the questions and responses in this AMA have been about SBMM.
Don’t expect a single one of them to be addressed. #MW3 #MWIII pic.twitter.com/8aKv8oy0G3

The amount of scrolling Sledgehammer Games has to do to find a question to answer in this MWIII AMA thread that is not SBMM is insane. Activision, just say something about it on record already. This is so dumb.

This is disappointing to see, and we hope that Sledgehammer acknowledges the issue soon. Or if they can’t say anything about it, perhaps Activision can offer an official statement? In the meantime, you can see what they HAVE said about changes coming to Season 1.
