The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 officially kicks off December 6, but before players start their seasonal journey, Sledgehammer Games is doing an in-game celebration for the game’s success with the first double XP weekend!

In a press statement sent out by Activision, Sledgehammer has revealed that Modern Warfare 3 has managed to set its highest engagement numbers out of any game in the new Modern Warfare Trilogy. Hours played in Modern Warfare 3 have already exceeded that of Modern Warfare 2 and 2019, with MW3 being the most-played campaign and Modern Warfare Zombies being the most-played third-person mode in the Modern Warfare franchise. 

The studio wrote a letter thanking the community, and confirming the launch of Season 1 and the announcement of the game’s first double XP weekend.

Thank You for a historic launch. Just two weeks in, MWIII has already set records with the highest engagement in the new Modern Warfare Trilogy!
