MW3 Collection 1 Now Live, ‘DLC Disabled’ Functionality Added to Matchmaking, and More

The first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack, Collection 1, hits Xbox Live, and brings along some changes to how Playlists work.

You can download Collection 1 through the in-game store for Xbox 360 owners, and it will set you back 1200 Microsoft points. The collection packs in two spec-ops missions, Negotiator and Black Ice, and four multiplayer maps, Piazza, Liberation, Overwatch, and Black Box. You can watch the trailer here.

With the new content pack available to all Modern Warfare 3 players (not only premium Elite), the Elite Playlists have been turned into Collection 1 Playlists, which contains the following game modes, and only features the four new maps:

  • Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed Playlist
  • Collection 1 Objectives
  • Hardcore Ricochet Mosh Pit (Hardcore TDM, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and S&D with ricochet damage)

Other playlists have been updated to feature the new maps in the rotation. Now, before you search for a lobby, you can decide whether to enable DLC maps to be in show up in your search or not. You have to press the back button on your controller before selecting Find Match and your respective playlist and game mode. Normal playlists (Standard, Advanced, and Community) are set to include the new maps in rotation by default, so you have to press the back button in order not to return DLC maps. After opting to exclude DLC from matchmaking, you get the following message “searching for DLC content is disabled for normal playlists.” You can re-enable it any time.

Collection 1 has added new achievements, which can read about here.
