New Witchfire Trailer Shows Off More Stylish Gameplay With a Nvidia DLSS 3 Announcement

Witchfire, the upcoming magic hybrid shooter, is going to have Nvidia DLSS 3 support. This feature should allow gamers to enjoy the stunning graphics of this dark fantasy FPS title while also maximizing the game’s framerate.

The announcement was made alongside a short trailer that gives us a glimpse at even more enemies, spells, and weapon combat. It’s a bit shorter than the previous trailer, but it’s still worth a watch if you’re interested in the game.

From the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm, Witchfire is a first-person shooter set in a grimdark fantasy world in which a deadly war rages between powerful witches and the Church. In this alternate reality, witches are very real and very dangerous— but so is the witch hunter. Armed by Vatican sorcerers, players wield an ungodly array of guns and forbidden magic as they combat dark terrors on behalf of their shadowy benefactors.

Action games with a focus on combat typically prefer higher framerates for smoother gameplay. Creative Director Adrian Chmielarz of The Astronauts shared such thoughts when talking about DLSS 3’s impact on Witchfire:

You start the game, push all graphics options to the max. You enjoy it for a while but then, especially if it’s an action game, you realize that the framerate is king. So you start lowering the quality of visuals in order to achieve that smooth gameplay. DLSS 3 allows the seemingly impossible, high framerate without compromising the visuals. A no brainer for a game like Witchfire, which is both action and beauty.

Witchfire should run at much better framerates with DLSS 3 technology “massively boosting” performance. This feature is only limited to GeForce RTX 4000 series GPUs, unfortunately, which means that you’ll need to spend quite a bit on a graphics card upgrade. Nvidia did announce that their latest 4000 series GPU, the RTX 4070 Ti, will cost less than all other currently available 4000 series GPUs at $799, but that’s still a hefty price.

If you did save up for a 4000 series graphics card, however, then this announcement should make Witchfire an even more enticing game than it already is. Witchfire is slated for an Early Access release sometime this year and will be available on Epic Games.
