NHL 23: Outside of Crossplay, No Major Post-Launch Feature Updates Planned, Devs Focused on NHL 24 (Update)

nhl 23 post launch

Just a few days ago, EA announced that NHL 23 will feature crossplay, which will come via a title update released post-launch. If you’re hoping for more features to be implemented after that, it seems EA Vancouver has no plans for any major updates beyond it.

In an invite-only media interview, the studio confirmed that there is no major updates planned post-launch outside of crossplay, as the devs will be diving into NHL 24 already.

Q: Are there any changes or improvements planned for post-launch as a live service update?

Clement Kwong (Lead Producer): Aside from cross platform matchmaking coming in November we don’t have major feature updates coming your way. We will be fully focused on delivering on NHL 24.

This is kind of a bummer, but not really unexpected. Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be title updates released to fix bugs, make player adjustments and more. Just don’t expect any major features to be released or added post-launch.

In the same interview, EA confirmed that aside from visual changes, both the last-gen and next-gen versions of the game will play the same.

NHL 23 release date is set for October 14 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Update: An EA rep has contacted us stating that while there are no major post-launch feature updates planned, there are “new updates that fans will have to wait and see.” We’ve updated the headline to reflect this new statement.

Game is not out, they literally said they are reselling you NHL 22 and are more concerned with 24 when 23 is not out? When is ANYBODY going to stand up and so no to this garbage conartist company?
