OG Fortnite Returns Permanently This December With Original Map, Loot, and Seasons
Epic Games made waves last year when it brought back the original Fortnite Battle Royale map after several seasons. This decision helped the game achieve its highest player count ever. The success of this move also inspired other games like Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends to adopt similar approaches this year. Now, Epic Games has shared the exciting news fans have been waiting for as OG Fortnite makes its return!

And this time, OG Fortnite is not coming back as a temporary mode. Instead, it will be a permanent addition to the game as a new mode. The news was confirmed through Fortnite’s official X/Twitter account.
The OG Fortnite game mode, however, will not be available immediately. It is scheduled to launch on Friday, December 6, and will be accessible on all platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Switch, and mobile devices.
Unlike its previous return, this mode brings more than just the original map. Players will experience loot and equipment limited to what was available during the first season of the battle royale. According to reports, all 10 seasons of Chapter 1 will return, with each season lasting one month.
Additionally, Fortnite will allow players to alternate between the OG mode and the regularly updated version, offering two distinct ways to experience the battle royale.
Initially, it was speculated that this announcement would take place during The Game Awards. However, the news was brought forward, confirming the return of Fortnite’s classic era sooner than expected.
