On the Day of Launch, Pearl Abyss Reveals Crimson Desert Doesn’t Work on Intel ARC GPUs
In case you didn’t know, Pearl Abyss’ open-world action-RPG Crimson Desert is finally out. For those playing on PC, if you’re using Intel Arc GPU’s, you might want to think twice before picking it up.
It seems Crimson Desert isn’t compatible with Intel Arc, but the odd thing here is, the game’s website only mentioned this after the game’s release.
When I say the game can’t run with Intel Arc, I meant it, and there’s proof of that below.
Crimson Desert Intel Arc Compatibility Is an Issue, But the Devs Only Made It Known at Launch
The Crimson Desert website updated its FAQ page after launch to mention the following regarding Intel Arc GPU’s:
Does Crimson Desert support Intel Arc?
No, Crimson Desert currently does not support Intel Arc graphics cards. If you purchased the game expecting Intel Arc support, please refer to the refund policy of the platform where the game was purchased for available options. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
The video below shows the game running on different GPU’s, with the Arc failing to load the game at all:
Was this intentional on Pearl Abyss’ part? Probably not since the devs even ask players to ask for a refund if they bought it under the notion that Intel Arc will work. However, it’s still worth pointing out though, so PC gamers who are using it won’t make the same mistake.
While we’re toiling away at our Crimson Desert review to give it the proper treatment it deserves, RPG fans might want to take a look at its two-part day-one update that covers an extensive list of fixes.
