Overwatch 2 Down to Address Fixes, Will Be Down Multiple Times This October 6

overwatch 2 mid-season patch

Blizzard Entertainment is hard at work fixing the Overwatch 2 server situation, and if you’re seeing Overwatch 2 down reports surface, don’t fret! It’s intentional, as Blizzard has announced that they are taking the servers offline in two separate occasions this October 6 (October 7 for those outside the US), and this is to address login issues.

Overwatch 2 Down Server Status and Updates for October 6:

Here’s the announcement from the studio:

Overwatch 2 Planned Downtimes and Fixes – October 6, 2022

  • 3:00-4:00 p.m. PDT: Servers will be down while we’re rolling out a fix to address some bugs related to account merge, login, and the First Time User Experience. Players won’t be able to access the servers during this time.
  • 6:00-9:00 p.m. PDT (approximately): We’re conducting significant upgrades to our databases to address player queues. Players won’t be able to access the servers during this time.
  • Additional Updates:
    • Players on PC may be prompted to update their client. This addresses some reports of crashes and black screen issues.

There doesn’t seem to be a patch set to be rolled out during this downtime (except for PC), but if there is one, we’ll update the post. Don’t forget, the game’s servers will go down twice, so don’t be surprised if you can’t connect. If the schedule for the server outage changes, we’ll update the post to reflect it.

Also of note: don’t forget that SMS Protect for those who played the first Overwatch will be removed! Read on for the details on that and more right here.
