Overwatch 2 Roadmap 2023 Revealed; PvE Story Mission Incoming in Season 6

Overwatch 2 Roadmap 2023

While Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t shirked on its duties when it comes to providing Overwatch 2 players with new content to keep the game fresh, the studio isn’t stopping there. We now just got the Overwatch 2 roadmap for 2023, and there’s a lot of new stuff incoming for players.

In today’s dev update, OW2 game Director Aaron Keller and Executive Producer Jared Neuss talked about the game’s future and even talked about the long-gestating Overwatch 2 PvE component.

Overwatch 2 Roadmap 2023:

Season 5:

  • New Limited-Time Event – Mischief Magic
  • Cinematic Reveal
  • Event – Summer Games
  • 5v5 Mini Competitive Season
  • On Fire status returns
  • Creator Workshop Mode

Season 6:

  • PvE Story Missions (complete with in-game cinematics)
  • New Support Hero
  • New Core Game Mode – Flashpoint (with two new maps)
  • Hero Mastery
  • Firing Range
  • Player Progression System
  • Overwatch Anniversary Event
  • Starting in Season 6, seasons will have their own names and identity

Season 7:

  • New Tank Hero
  • New Collab Event (LTM)
  • New Control Map
  • New Winter Event
  • New Hero Mastery Missions (Multiplayer)
  • Roadhog Rework

In addition to the roadmap, Blizzard has also confirmed a few things for PvE; back when OW2 PvE development was announced, the studio originally had two main components which were Story Missions and Hero Missions. According to Blizzard, to not pull resources away from the live game, the studio has made the decision to cut Hero Missions entirely. Another thing that’s been cut are Talent Trees, which was part of the PvE reveal back in 2019. Sadly, that, too, has been shelved.
