Palworld Patch 1.1 Is Not a “Massive Update,” Pocketpair Comments on Expansions
With the launch of Palworld to version 1.0, the game has seen a tremendous uptick in player counts.
Version 1.0 was released in July of this year, and given we’re in the last few months of 2026, it’s understandable that players are looking forward to the next major update.
It seems the next version jump won’t be it, as we asked the developers about Palworld update 1.1, and the comment we received might not be what the player base wants to hear right now.
Palworld Update 1.1 Won’t Be a Big Patch
Speaking to MP1st in an exclusive interview, Pocketpair’s John “Bucky” Buckley, the studio’s Head of Publishing and Communications, answered our questions on not just update 1.1, but even about expansions/DLC.
MP1st: When will players hear more about Update 1.1, and can you reveal what highly requested feature it will introduce?
Bucky answered, “An answer that no one wants, but everyone expects… you’ll have to wait just a little longer!”
Adding more to it, Buckley said, “While 1.1 isn’t a massive update, we do think players will be pretty happy with it! That said, we’re not quite ready to start teasing it just yet!”
Let’s hope that version 1.1 will at least have something new for players… even if it’s not big in terms of scale.
Just for reference, the 1.0 patch for Palworld brought the following:
- 72 new Pals added
- New endgame content
- Major Pal rebalance
- Breeding overhaul
- Combat improvements
- Base & quality-of-life improvements
- Technical improvements
- Palworld Expansion/DLC Not Ruled Out by Pocketpair
While I doubt anyone expects the version 1.1 patch to be anywhere close to this, the player base might still expect something tangible, given it’s been months since a proper version-jump patch was released.
In the same chat, we asked Buckley about the possibility of a Palworld expansion or DLC.
MP1st: Will future Palworld content be free or paid? Not just game updates, but actual content?
Buckley answered, “To be honest, we don’t really think about future content in terms of whether we should monetize it or not.”
Continuing with the topic, Buckley added, “So far, we’ve been happy to continue supporting Palworld through free updates, and we haven’t felt the need to approach things differently. Of course, we wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of something larger, like an expansion, in the distant future, but we have no specific plans to announce and it’s not something we’re actively working towards right now.”
Well, there you have it. Don’t rule out any Palworld DLC or expansions, but if they do announce one, don’t expect it anytime soon.
In the same chat, Buckley talked to us about adding new Pals to the roster, as well as explaining that the studio isn’t seeking to “maximize revenue” when it comes to Palworld spinoffs.
