I don’t know who else remembers Paragon, but if you’re anything like me, you might look back on it fondly. Epic Games shut it down back in 2018 to focus on Fortnite, and that seemed like the end of things. Imagine our surprise, then, when we saw the latest press release for Paragon: The Overprime’s closed beta test on PS5!

This game has apparently been available on Steam and the Epic Games Store for some time now, but the PS5 version is on the horizon with full crossplay enabled. Here’s the breakdown of the game according to Netmarble themselves:

Paragon: The Overprime is a team-based TPS Action MOBA that anyone can play for free on PC and now PlayStation 5! Players are engaged in 5v5 play while working with teammates to conquer the Prime battlefield. The game celebrates strategic actions and fast-paced battles by two teams aiming to eliminate the opponents’ territories. Players can choose from one of the many powerful heroes utilizing their unique skills – Warrior, Support, Ranger, Caster, Tank, and Assassin. The game will feature full crossplay between PC and PS5 platforms, ensuring there will always be players to matchmake with, and that players will be able to jump into matches with their friends, no matter what platform they are on.

Over 36 playable heroes are available, including the newest hero Riktor. The game’s development team have focused on increasing the number of features specifically for the PlayStation 5 console such as Aim Assist, Adaptive Triggers, Haptic Feedback. Players can launch directly from activity cards, taking full advantage of the PS5’s feature set. Paragon: The Overprime’s Closed Beta Test on PlayStation 5 now records more than ten thousand players joining the CBT currently. Players are urged not to miss out this limited CBT period, since the access codes for players are additionally generated to accommodate a larger number of incoming players.

Additionally, we’ve got some details on a couple of events happening during the closed beta:

•  Currency Support – In order to provide players the full Paragon: The Overprime experience during the CBT, players can obtain 300 Kima and 10,000 Lenar currency by logging in, and an additional 10 Kima/500 Lenar awarded for each battle they enter.
• CBT Participation Emblem Giveaway: A commemorative emblem will be given to players who participate in the CBT. This special badge is to show off their commitment in helping the world of Paragon: The Overprime arrive on consoles following the game’s grand launch.

If you’ve been missing Epic’s classic, this might be worth checking out. The closed beta will run from today through September 25 on PS5. Additionally, the game is already available for free on PC.
