There is no doubt that Crimson Desert has been one of the most successful games of 2026 so far. It has already sold more than 3 million copies. However, it has not fully met expectations, as some players have criticized its story, controls, and difficulty, even though the developers have already made some improvements.

The game is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it now seems that Pearl Abyss is also looking into a possible version for the Nintendo Switch 2, although this would require significant optimization.

Crimson Desert May Come to Switch 2

In a recent shareholder meeting, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-young talked about the possibility of bringing Crimson Desert to Switch 2, stating, “Since the Switch still has lower specifications compared to other console devices, there are parts we have to give up, but internally we have taken an interest and started research and development (R&D).”

The company also supports the modding community and sees it as a positive for the game. Jin-young explained, “Since the mod community is active and our game has a sandbox structure, we believe that supporting it would be a strength. On the other hand, supporting mods would require opening up a large part of the engine, so while the development team views it positively, there are no concrete plans.”

He also revealed that the team considered adding multiplayer but decided against it due to the difficulty of implementing it.

At the same time, he confirmed that their next game, DokeV, is already in development and could arrive sooner than expected. He said, “We will ensure that we do not neglect the preparation of new titles such as DokeV. In particular, we are preparing to launch DokeV quickly after ‘Crimson Desert,’ and our goal is to disclose the development status at an appropriate time.”

In other news, Crimson Desert’s story was reportedly decided at the last minute, as developers reveal internal struggles and a “yes men” workplace culture.
