PlayStation Acquires Savage Game Studios for Its Newly Formed PlayStation Studios Mobile Division

Playstation acquire savage studios

It looks like Sony isn’t done buying studios yet. A couple of months after announcing that their Bungie acquisition had officially completed, PlayStation today revealed that it has entered a “definitive agreement” to acquire Savage Game Studios at an undisclosed amount.

PlayStation revealed the news in a blog post and talks about providing more ways for more people to engage with their content. They revealed that Savage Game Studios will be joining a newly created division called PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which will operate independently from its console division focusing on on-the-go experiences based on new or existing PlayStation IPs.

Michail Katkoff, CEO of Savage Game Studios had this to say:

“Established in 2020 and led by myself and fellow Co-founders Nadjim Adjir and Michael McManus, Savage Game Studios was born of our many years of mobile game development experience spanning a number of massively successful global IP. Our guiding vision was a creative space where experimentation and taking risks weren’t warily avoided, but rather eagerly embraced. We’ve all worked at big studios and while we respect the advantages of ample resources, we wanted to stay small and nimble so we could call our own shots.”

It seems like after the console and PC sector, PlayStation wants to explore the full potential of the mobile gaming market. It would be cool to play a The Last of Us game on mobile though.
