PlayStation Store Surprise “Holiday Sale” Kicks Off for PS+ Members; Houses Newly Released Titles
[summaraize]
Sony has sprung a surprise sale on the PlayStation Store today, though you’ll need to have an active PlayStation Plus membership to take advantage of it. If you aren’t a member, you might want to consider it, as not only will you be able to enjoy multiplayer, but this sale has some steep discounts on new titles.
Like our other sales articles, we have the complete list of games, and our recommendations. It is important to note that the prices indicated below do not include the discount since you’ll need to be logged in to see it, and we unfortunately can’t scrape the data like that.
PlayStation Store “Holiday Sale” Now Live for Just a Few Days Ending on December 19
Note: We have enabled a collapsible table for the games given the huge list. To see the games in each list, click on the black arrow and/or the letters (A – E, F – J, K – O, P – T, U – Z).
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (-25%, 52.49) – The latest COD. Omnimoovement not as big as Treyarch claims it to be. Loads of bugs, but gunplay is solid when it works as intended. Heavy with SBMM, so bear that in mind.
- Hogwarts Legacy (-75%, $17.49) – Huge discount and at that price? Definitely a pick-up. Open-world Harry Potter game that lets you explore Hogwarts Castle. It also lets you off a ton of wizards, just like Lord Voldemort but worse, since you’re just a student in this one.
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard (-40%, $41.99) – Huge sale on a newly-released RPG. Has reviewed fairly well, and said to bring back classic BioWare gameplay.
- Madden NFL 25 (-60%, $27.99) – The only NFL sim available, so if you want some virtual pigskin action on, this is the game. Gets seasonal content.
- EA Sports College Football 25 (-50%, $34.99) – First NCAA football game in a long, long time. Reviewed very well, and gets a lot more support than Madden.
- EA Sports MVP Bundle: Madden 25 + College Football 25 (-55%, $67.49) – Two football games at a discounted price. If you can’t get enough pigskin action, this is a good deal I gather.
- Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Ultra Edition (-25%) – The game itself is worth the price of admission BUT the 25 percent discount for the Ultra which costs $110? Yeah, not really. If it was 25 percent off the base game price, then definitely a no-brainer.
- Palworld (-25%, $22.49) – Released fairly recently on PS5. Getting a huge December update as well. Pokemon with guns? Not really, but if you want to jump on the hype train, then this is a good price.
- Diablo 4 Expansion Bundle (-35%, $45.49) – Includes the base game + Vessel of Hatred expansion. Worth it for those who like Diablo-style gameplay. The DLC is sold separately and discounted as well.
- Star Wars Outlaws (-35%, $45.49) – The one with the Season Pass is also on sale. Has gotten loads of updates since launch, making the experience better. Just don’t expect big bosses, lightsaber duels or anything like that. This is more of an open-world game where you’re a thief and not a Jedi.
- Undisputed (-25%, $44.99) – Given we aren’t getting a Fight Night game anytime soon, then this might be the next best thing. Just got a new DLC for fighters.
- Unknown 9 Awakenig (-50%, $24.99) – Was just released this October and now at 50 percent off. Received very middling reviews. I suggest checking YouTube first before deciding.
- Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns Kollectio (-60%, $19,99) – Massive discount on the latest Mortal Kombat game, and the Khaos Reigns pack is also discounted. Still getting supported, so might be worth it if you want a fighting game.
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (-40%, $41.99) – Fantastic follow-up to FF7 Remake. If you’ve played that, then this is an automatic buy.
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake + Rebirth Twin Pack (-40%, $59.99) – If you ahven’t played FF7 Remake, this is the perfect starting off point. Awesome RPG experiences and will remind you why FF7 is one of the most revered games of all-time.
- Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (-20%, $39.99) – Zombie game where you can use literally everything. Not sure how the remaster plays, but the original was definitely a solid zombie game. Getting support from Capcom even if it’s not a multiplayer game.
- Tekken 8 (-50%, $34.99) – Fight fans might be underwhelmed by this compared to Tekken 7, but it’s still a solid fighter. Loads of support and even getting Clive Rosfield from FF16 this week!
- GTA 5 (-50%, $19.99) – This is the lowest it will ever be on PSN. It has been on sale multiple times, but this is as deep as the discount goes. Might be a good time to try if you haven’t already since GTA 6 is out next year (at least that’s what Take-Two has planned).
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (-67%, $19.79) – Awesome open-world game, and in my opinion, better than GTA 5. Ecen if you don’t like westerns, this one is special. Loads of Easter eggs, activities. You can meet a vampire, kill the Ku Klux Klan even.
- UFC 5 (-60%, 27.99) – Latest UFC game. Only MMA game available for current-gen platforms. Gets free fighters regularly from EA.
- The Crew Motorfest (-70%, $20.99) – Huge discount on the latest live service racer from Ubisoft. Still getting support though not as much as one might expect.
- F1 24 (-70%, $21) – Codemasters’ latest F1 game. Getting monthly support, and is worth a pick up for F1 enthusiasts.
- Star Wars Jedi Survivor (-75, %17.50) – Sequel to Respawn’s excellent Jedi series that’s getting a third and concluding entry. Loads of fun, more forgiving than the first, and way less backtracking.
- Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (- 90%, $4) – At that price? This is definitely worth a pick up just to even try it. Fun, but expect loads of backtracking. Excellent combat, boss fights, and a Souls experience but with a Star Wars coating. Except for Cal Kestis’ running animation, which has a doodie coating on his underwear.
- AC Mirage (-60%, $19.99) – Latest Assassin’s Creed game. Have not played it. I assume you pick a target, kill them, jump off high ledges, etc.
- Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Gold Edition (-40%, $53.99) – Includes the Solar Pass and other DLC stuff. Latest entry in the racing franchise. Getting supported still.
- Final Fantasy 16 (-25%, $37.49) – I find that people either like this or hate it. Personally, I dig it since the combat is fluid and combo-heavy, boss fights are a spectacle, and it will remind you of past Final Fantasy games. Worth the price of admission. The Complete Editino with the two DLCs are also on sale for $52.49.
- Banishers Ghosts of New Eden (-50%, $29.99) – Underrated gem. It might look AAA, but it’s not. Combat is its weakest point but side quests, story, voice-work and whatnot are all topnotch stuff. Can’t recommend this enough. Has loads of stuff to do outside the main quest as well, so it’s not like it’s a 8-10 hour game.
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (-60%, $27.99) – Ubisoft open-world but with Avatar’s license. Better than expected and still getting DLC and support.
- WWE 2K24 (-67%, %23.10) – Not bad, and getting support, but be ready for that to disappear since devs are most likely already prepping release of 2K25’s version due early next year.
- The Witcher 3 Complete Edition (-80%, $9.99) – If The Witcher 4 trailer got you hyped, go jump in. Even if you’re not familiar with the first two games, it’s fine. One of the best games of all-time. Has fantastic side quests, loads of weapons and armor to scavenge for. Includes the two massive expansions too. If you haven’t played this yet, I cannot recommend this enough.
- GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition (-60%, $23.99) – Just got a patch recently. Not sure how performance is now, but three GTA games for that price? You’ll be playing this one well into 2025.
- Dead Island 2 (-50%, $24.99) – Still getting consistent support, and one of the only few games Embracer released that seems to actually have made money.
- RoboCop: Rogue City (-55%, $26.99) – Violent. Faithful to the movies, and a bit underrated since it didn’t come from a known developer.
- Need for Speed Unbound (-90%, $6.99) – A more aracade-y take on the racing franchise. Still getting seasonal support.
- Hogwarts Legacy + Quidditch Champions Bundle (-70%, $29.99) – Have not played Quidditc Champions so can’t say if the bundle is worth it. That game is still getting support up to now.
- Battlefield 2042 (-92%, $5.59) – We are likely getting a new BF game next year, but at that price? Yeah, worth it to test things out especially since loads of stuff have changed since release.
- Dying Light 2 (-60%, $23.99) – Zombie game from Techland and getting a ton of support. You can be sure this won’t get abandoned anytime soon, as Techland is known for supporting their games for years.
- Resident Evil Village (-60%, %15.99) – The expansions are also on sale currently. Closes the chapter on Ethan Winters’ story. Very fun even if it’s in first-person. Doesn’t overstay its welcome and has that classic Resident Evil gameplay.
- Resident Evil 7 biohazard (-60%, $7.99) – The scariest Resident Evil game I have ever played. Well worth it just to experience the hillbilly terror.
- LEGO Harry Potter Collection (-50%, $19.99) – Includes Years 1-4 and Years 5-7. It’s that familiar LEGO gameplay but in Harry Potter’s universe.
- Romancing SaGa 2 (-25%, $37.49) – Nicher game that has a solid fanbase. This is a 3D remake fo the original.
- LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga (-80%, $15.99) – Star Wars in LEGO. Perfect game to play with kids and your partner that’s not a huge gamer.
- System Shock – (-50%, $19.99) – Remake of the original. Reviewed fairly well, too. The original inspiration of BioShock and is considered the spiritual successor of System Shock.
- Mafia Definitive Edition (-80%, $7.99) – Open-world game and heavily discounted. We are getting the latest Mafia game next year too.
- Atomic Heart (-60%, $27.99) – Has that BioShock feel but not as polished or as deep. Has a new DLC incoming early next year.
- Skull and Bones (-60%, $27.99) – Ubisoft’s pirate game that’s been in development limbo for a long time. Still getting support, though not sure how good this is.
- Dead Space (-75%, $17.50) Much like the Resident Evil remakes, Silent Hill 2 remake, this is also an excellent remake. We really should be getting DS2 Remake. Buy this, so the chances of that happening is much higher. This deserves to be played. Fantasic story, creepy atmosphere, varied combat, and even has good bosses as well. This is a great horror game from start to finish.
- Nobody Wants to Die (-40%, $14.99) – Fairly new, and is a detective game not an action title. Reminds me of Minority Report minus Tom Cruise (is that good or bad?).
- Star Wars Battlefront 2 (-85%, $3) – Hard to not recommend a game that’s still being played, lets you become a murdering Jedi, and has faithful representations of AT-ATs, blaster sounds and other Star Wars stuff.
- Visions of Mana (-30%, $41.99) – Latest Mana game from Square Enix. Reviewed well. If you’re looking for a new JRPG.
- Resident Evil 3 (-75%, $9.99) – The weakest of the RE remakes. Main issue here is how short it is, given you can literally finish this one on sitting. Around 4-7 hours, I think.
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (-80%, $11.99) – Borderlands spin-off, reviewed well.
- Borderlands 3 (-90%, $5.99) – Latest mainline Borderlands game. We are getting B4 next year, so might be worth a shot to jump in. Good game to play with friends.
- Back 4 Blood (-90%, $5.99) – Might be a good game to play with friends. Support has ended but servers are still up. Turtle Rock allegedly working on a sequel.
- Eiyuden Chroncile: Hundred Heroes (-50%, $24.99) – Surprise hit, and still getting support somewhat.
- Session Skate Sim (-75%, $12.49) If you want your skateboarding games more “serious” and less arcade-y. This is still getting support with updates and even new content.
- Yakuza Like a Dragon (-50%, $9.99) – Reviewed very, very well. Super low price, so worth checking this one.
- King of Fighters 15 (-70%, $8.99) – If you’re looking for an alt fighter, SNK still supporting the latest KOF.
- Tactics Ogre Reborn (-50%, $24.99) – Remake of the 1995 original. Tactics-like RPG, which is more fun than it looks.
- Okami HD (-75%, $4.99) – We just got Okami 2 announced, so this might be time to give this a go. Gorgeous action-adventure game developed by Clover. Very charming, colorful and has a distinct Japanese vibe to it.
The big Anniversary Sale is still active, and ends on December 20. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony either refreshes the Holiday Deals sale list or launches a new one to ring in the new year with loads of sales.

“Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (-40%, $41.99) – Fantastic follow-up to FF7 Remake. If you’ve played that, then this is an automatic buy.”
No, it does not. Remake was a bloated dumpster fire of a game and it in no way made me want to continue on with the trilogy. And considering how badly Rebirth sold, I think there are more people who agree with me than don’t.
I’m buying ff7 great price enjoyed remake
