Report: Call of Duty 2020 Codenamed “The Red Door”

Call of Duty 2020 Puzzle

A new rumor suggests that the internal name of Call of Duty 2020 is titled, “The Red Door.”

The title was first spotted over on SerialStation, where it received a rather odd patch size of 71GB. Now typically we don’t pay much attention to the file size, though this one came off as rather odd as if it were a simple indie game it should have in no way be anywhere near that size. Upon further inspection of the file, we discovered that the ID naming consists “COD2020INTALPHA1.”

A no brainer as to why this may, in fact, be related to Call of Duty 2020, and while the naming and image use of “The Red Door” may appear as odd to some, it’s important to note that Black ops 4 had been given the codename of North Wood. This news is also accompanied by some data found within some of the available decrypted files, potentially connecting it to Call of Duty. Due to potential copyright material, we are not allowed to post the line of text included. this info was collaborated over at Modernwarzone, &  TheGamingRevolution.

These appear to be game modes of some sort, and when you look at what’s available in the latest Call of Duty, it becomes apparent what these may mean.

MP = Multiplayer

ZM = Zombie Mode

WZ = Warzone

CP = Campaign or co-op (most likely co-op)

WZZM = Warzone Zombie Mode?

CT =?

According to the changelog history, the first update for The Red Door was back on May 16, though this was the 1.02 update, suggesting that the title was very well on PSN database well before that. We also know that it has online components as the Play Together flag is checked. Of course, this is all just speculation, though the inclusion of “COD2020” and the content of some of the files heavily leans to that notion.

Speaking of Call of Duty 2020, it’s been revealed recently that Call of Duty pros have been in discussion with Treyarch in terms of designing the game. While there’s no official anouncement from Activision just yet, this year’s COD is said to be titled “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.”

We’ll be sure to keep you posted if any new development arises.
