Report: Call of Duty 2023 Will Be “Premium” DLC for Modern Warfare 2, Being Developed by Sledgehammer

Following today’s confirmation by Activision that we’ll be seeing a “premium” Call of Duty game in 2023, Jason Schreier, the person who reported that we won’t be seeing a new Call of Duty game next year, has gone on Twitter to confirm that there won’t be a new Cal of Duty game released next year.

Clarifying his earlier reporter this year, Schreier claims that Call of Duty 2023 will be “premium” DLC for Modern Warfare 2, and that it is being developed by Sledgehammer Games (studio behind COD: Vanguard). Schreier also states that Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game will be in 2024.

Let me make this super clear:
– The next game, by Treyarch, is coming out in 2024
– Next year there will be a Modern Warfare II “premium” (paid) expansion by Sledgehammer
– It’s supposed to have lots of content! Maybe that’s why they call it a “full” release. But it’s more MWII

Same as with every report, this has not been confirmed by Activision, so take it with a grain of salt. Schreier  has been quite reliable for these things, hence why we’re reporting it even if Activision has said we should experience a premium Call of Duty game next year.

The big question here is: If this is indeed true, would you buy a premium DLC pack that houses campaign DLC and new multiplayer maps and the like? If so, would be COD players be willing to fork out $60-$70 for this premium expansion? I honestly don’t see that being an easy sell, but if anyone can do it, it’d be Activision. I gather, they can sweeten the pot with Call of Duty 2024 exclusive content, and other stuff.

However, given how Modern Warfare 2 has already sold $1B in just 10 days, it’s hard to believe Activision leaving all that dough on the table, no?
