Microsoft aims to complete its $68.7 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard next week. The reports indicate that they plan to make this announcement next Friday on October 13, 2023.

This deal has been going on for more than 20 months, experiencing its fair share of challenges. Microsoft has had to navigate multiple hurdles, but they now believe they have successfully addressed the concerns of the key stakeholders, and are optimistic about the outcome. Just last week, the tech giant indicated their intention to finalize this deal by October 18, 2023.

“We still anticipate that we will close the transaction by October 18, and we have full confidence in our case and the deal’s benefits to gamers and competition.”

The FTC lost their initial appeal against Microsoft-Activision, but they intend to appeal this decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. However, should the acquisition proceed as scheduled, then the FTC might attempt to overturn it, though accomplishing this would be a formidable challenge.
