Report: Modern Warfare 3 Demo Is a Timed PlayStation Exclusive For Five Days

In one of those decisions that are likely to leave some players frustrated, Activision has decided to make the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 demo a timed exclusive for PlayStation consoles. Call of Duty fans owning Sony’s console will have a five days head start compared to other players on PC or Xbox platforms.

The reveal was made in Sony’s Arabic’s YouTube channel, and Call of Duty reliable leaker BKTOOR discovered the news and shared it among its followers. You can find the tweet below.

As you can see in the image with a huge “play the demo first on PlayStation” shout, the fine print mentions that these players will have five days to check out the anticipated shooter before others may do the same. However, a pre-order is required to access the demo, so this isn’t exactly one with free access:

Available on PlayStation at least five days before any other platform. Pre-order required to access early beta.

If you own a PS4 or PS5 and want to join in, dust off your wallet and pre-order Modern Warfare 3. The best thing is that a lot of items from Modern Warfare 2 carry over to Modern Warfare 3, including bundles, operators, and more.

Of course, this timed exclusivity is part of Activision’s deal with PlayStation for Call of Duty games; a deal that’s said to be ending with Modern Warfare 3. And with Microsoft soon to make its acquisition of Activision-Blizzard official, don’t expect any timed exclusive anything from PlayStation for Call of Duty.

Keep on top of every bit of info starting with the MW3 reveal coming August 17, and then it’s a matter of time as you wait for the grand launch, currently slated to November 10, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X. The Steam page is already open in case you want to wishlist the game on PC.

There are seven studios working on Modern Warfare 3, something that is fairly mind-blowing: there’s Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Beenox, Raven Software, High Moon Studios, and Demonware.
