Report: PlayStation Not Attending gamescom 2022

PlayStation Gamescom 2022

Fans hoping to see PlayStation make a big appearance during this Summer’s gamescom 2022 event will be sadden to hear that they have reportedly pulled out of the event.

In a statement issued to German publication Games Wirtschaft, PlayStation has reportedly confirmed that they will not be attending gamescom 2022. While that is a big letdown, it’s important to note that a number of other publishers, including Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, and Take-Two Interactive, have also pulled out.

While the last few years for gamecom have been all digital, this year marked the return for the showcase to be once again hosted in-person, on a live stage. It’s unfortunate that it’ll be missing some key publishers, though given the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other real-world issues taking place, it is understandable why a number of companies are still opting out of these major gaming events.

Nonetheless, the show must go on as they say, and hopefully we hear more from the organizers in the coming weeks as to who exactly we can still expect to see during the show. Fingers crossed we still have a stellar showcase with some great surprises.

Gamescom 2022 will be taking place on August 24 and run through August 28.
