Report: Star Wars: Eclipse Concept Art Leak Provides Insight Into Characters

It’s been more than three years since Quantic Dream first revealed to the public that their next game would be a Star Wars title, with a trailer that would be one of the highlights of The Game Awards 2021. The game promised to be “the most ambitious production” in the studio’s history, with the classic branching narrative that makes their games stand out.

Unfortunately, this announcement was followed by almost absolute radio silence from the developer. While this makes sense, as the game was announced very early in development, various subsequent events haven’t helped ease the anxiety of franchise fans.

Developments such as the departure of the game’s lead writer from the studio and the restructuring of NetEase, the studio’s owner, raised questions about the project’s future. However, reports suggest that the game is currently slated for release in 2026, meaning we might see more of it relatively soon. In the meantime, if you’re eager for a small glimpse into the game, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve uncovered some early concept art showcasing races and characters that could be part of the world of this project.

Star Wars: Eclipse Characters and Designs

[At the request of the developer, we have decided to take down the images]

The 13 images depict various characters in different outfits and visual pitches. Three of them belong to species well-known to Star Wars fans, as indicated by the filenames: a Zenezian, a Rodian, and a Gungan—the latter being the race of the infamous Jar Jar Binks. Additionally, there are designs for smugglers, each with unique attire and equipment.

Two characters stand out not for their appearance but for the filenames of their respective images: “Travis” and “Jotraaaz Kammzzzek” (an addition to those hilariously weird Star Wars names). The use of the characters’ names instead of their species names suggests they may play a more significant role in the story compared to the others shown here.

We don’t know what roles these characters might play in the story, so we can only speculate. The closest we’ve come to learning about Star Wars: Eclipse’s plot was back in 2022, when Colin Moriarty revealed some details in the Sacred Symbols podcast. The story is said to center around a female protagonist named Sarah, a member of the Zaraan empire, which would be a human-like race new to the Star Wars universe.

If development progresses as planned, it wouldn’t be crazy to expect new updates by the end of the year. However, considering how unpredictable the video game industry can be, a delay pushing the game’s release to 2027 might be the more reasonable expectation.
