Report: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Discs Indicate “Download Required” in Order to Play

Those looking to buy Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on physical disc so you don’t have to download huge chunks of data in order to play, we have some bad news for you.

It seems the disc versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will still require players to download either the full game or something in order to run the game. This is according to the disc cover of the game that’s out in the wild right now.

No word yet on whether this means the full game needs to be downloaded or if it’s just an access key, but it does a require a download, which might be a bummer for some players.

Note that if the disc only houses the activation key and the key full game does need to be downloaded. this won’t be the first time that this has happened. Some game discs only have the activation key with the disc routing players to the digital storefront version of the game for a full game download (Modern Warfare 2 did this recently).

We’ll know more for sure once the game launches this April 28 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Thanks, NightwingXII!

Who does this bother in 2023? As someone that’s been gaming since the Atari was hot new tech, the best days of my gaming life were when Steam and GOG came along. No more game boxes and tat everywhere, no more having to buy a game two or three times because of damaged disks. I love digital download games, movies and music and I’d never buy a physical thing again. As for the people that worry about ownership, that ship sailed a long time ago and long before digital downloading was even a thing. On top of it, I’ve heard this game is something like 155GB. That would make a physical version of at least 4 disks and that goes back to the 1980’s and I have no interest in that either.

I’m not too bothered. I am bothered about the cancerous EA logo on it though and because of that, and like the first one, I won’t be touching it.
