Resident Evil Village To Offer Graphics & Performance Mode Like DMC5, Devs Putting PS5 to Full Use

Resident Evil Village Graphics & Performance Mode PS5

PlayStation gamers hoping to grab Resident Evil Village next month will be delighted to know that the game will be making full use of the PS5, as well as offering an optimized experience on the PS4.

Speaking to director Morimasa Sato about how Resident Evil Village took advantage of the PS5 hardware in the latest issue of OPM (Official PlayStation Magazine,) here’s what he had to say concerning different modes (graphics and performance) in Resident Evil Village.

OPM: Will there be different modes to play in, as in DMC5, and if so what will these be?

Morimasa Sato: There are settings which will allow each player to optimize the experience according to their preference.

When asked how the team is making use of the PS5, here’s what he had to say.

We’re putting the high-performance power of the PS5 to full use to create a realistic experience of this terrifying village.

There are a lot of exterior scenes in the game and in the past it’s been challenging to produce great-looking visuals for areas like this while maintaining performance, but it’s been a breeze with PS5. I feel like the possibilities of what I can express in a game have been expanded.

Morisama goes on to explain that while they have utilized the technology offered by the PS5, PS4 owners can rest assure knowing that the game has been optimized for the console as well.

In related news, the second demo for Resident Evil Village has been uploaded on the PlayStation Network yesterday! Read up about that here: Resident Evil Village Second Demo Uploaded to PSN, Remote Play Controls Revealed

Its impossible to put PS5 to full use when series s AND even Xbone are part of the development pool lol. We’ll know soon enough what a pure PS5 built game looks like in 2 months time when Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart gets here.

To full use simply means they’re out of sauce is all. Not just the controller aspect and it’s features. I wouldn’t buy my system based on a controller as it is. Not even a year out and developers are saying they’re putting it to full use. HA!!!

In a couple years the systems will be able to showcase exactly what they’re capable of when using engines like UE5.

Until then it’s going to be the same between the systems for the most part.

Sony and their secret storage sauce has been all but debunked as being a total game changer between the systems. Because they’re almost identical in terms of actual throughput.

RETURNAL will be the first pure PS5 game, and from what footage i’ve seen, i’m not overly impressed. I own both new consoles, so i’m not a fan-boy. I prefer the way back-compat works on Series X to PS5. I also really like the VRR. The user interface is better too. Stuff just works better on that system. The PS5 has been a headache. Issues transfering files to an external HDD. Issues downloading PS5 versions of games. Inferior pixel counts in many games. My PS5 is also noisy, very much so, in fact. Controller drift on a new controller after only a couple of weeks. There are a lot of issues with the PS5. If you own one, you’ll likely be aware of many of them. The series X “works” better, feels a more developed and finished product. PS5 feels flawed, unfinished & underdeveloped. I have both machines to enjoy exclusives. I buy multi-plat games on whichever console gets the best test results for each game. Cyberpunk on Series X, Cold War on PS5, for example. At the end of the day, both these machines will have great new games in the coming years. believe me, PS4 & Xbox one are going to see a lot less new games by then, the transition will be over and developers will be pushing out games to utilise the newer hardware.
