Following yesterday’s Mortal Kombat 12 teaser that suggests a reset of the timeline is in the cards, it seems we’re getting exactly just that according to a new rumor that has surfaced.
This new rumor comes from the reliable billbil-kun, who has not only outed the monthly PlayStation Plus games early, but even info about other games. This time around, billbil states that Mortal Kombat 12 won’t be called that at all, but instead will be named “Mortal Kombat 1.”
As you may notice, game will be available for Next-Gen consoles only (while including Nintendo Switch)

While we here at MP1st don’t usually every report and rumor that surfaces (for obvious reasons), we’re confident in posting this given billbil’s history of being accurate. If true, this shows a massive shift in the game’s story and events. However, given how convoluted it has been, this does make sense since it gives NetherRealm a blank slate in terms of the fighters, movesets and everything else in between that they want to do.
What’s interesting here is, the game being set for release on current-gen platforms but has a Switch version too. One would think it’d be the other way around. The added info that it would come in different editions isn’t that surprising given most games these days do the same thing.
However, as a disclaimer, same with any rumor and leak that surfaces, treat this one with a grain of salt until confirmed or denied by NetherRealm and/or WB Games.
