Skate 4 Will Be Free-to-Play, and Officially Called “skate.”

Full Circle has revealed that Skate 4‘s official name is skate. In the board room, the developer has also announced that skate. will be free-to-play on all consoles and PC while offering full cross-play and cross-progression support.

Creative director Cuz Parry talked about why it isn’t called Skate 4.

This isn’t a sequel. It’s not a remake. It’s not a reboot, a prequel, it’s not any of that. It’s not a remake or a remaster, whatever ‘re’ you can do. This is it, it’s skate. We’re in this for the long haul. That means we’re not an iterative title. There won’t be a Skate 5 up to 10

The boardroom update also revealed that skate. will take place in San Vansterdam. EA shed some light on what free-to-play model they will use for skate. They laid four key rules while designing microtransatcions.

  • No pay to win
  • No paid gameplay advantages
  • No map locked behind a paywall
  • No paid loot boxes
