Hi-Rez Studios has finally confirmed that the Hawaiian culture hero Maui will be joining the Smite roster this month, along with a cinematic teaser featuring the kolohe deity and his legendary fish hook.

Watch the full trailer below:

Maui is the second Polynesian god to join Smite after Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes. The trickster god’s playful strength is at full display in the trailer as he uses his mythical fish hook to pull the sun up from the horizon, and then fishes a buried island out of the sea.

The trailer follows yesterday’s teaser, which featured the Hawaiian “Oli Aloha” welcoming chant.

Maui will be fully revealed during the Smite Update Show on October 12, and will join the game roster on October 18. His in-game class has not yet been revealed, but a summary of his abilities was revealed in a datamine last month.

Smite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
