Splatoon 3 DLC Revealed: “Side Order” Out Spring 2024

Splatoon 3 DLC

In Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Direct, we finally got a look at some new content for their frenetic ink-based shooter. The next Splatoon 3 DLC, titled “Side Order,” is a hefty single player expansion slated for a release sometime in the Spring of 2024. Here’s the trailer we got to see in the Direct:

From what we can see in the video, this DLC looks to be very heavily inspired by Nier: Automata. Players will climb a tower known as the Spire of Order and choose which floors to tackle. Each floor has different difficulties and will reward players with currency and upgrades such as increased splash damage for explosives or improved run speed.

The expansion will also allow players to access a new gliding mechanic with their drone companion. By hanging onto the bottom of the drone, players will be able to descend slowly and presumably traverse over gaps.

Perhaps most notably, the DLC will feature significant story content. We’ve come to expect story expansions for Splatoon games, so it’s good to see that Nintendo isn’t breaking the pattern. Throughout the trailer, we see a mysterious figure and all sorts of cryptic imagery that’s sure to be explained once we actually get our hands on Side Order.
