Star Wars: Battlefront II Multiplayer Will Stay Online Through GameRanger

Although Disney has announced it won’t support Star Wars: Battlefront II multiplayer beyond the GameSpy shutdown, GameRanger will keep its servers online for the game.

“As of May 31, 2014, online functionality, including network multiplayer and wireless chat, will no longer be available for this title. We regret any disappointment as a result of the shutdown of the services supporting these online features,” the developer stated on the game’s official Steam page.

Fortunately, GameRanger’s creator, Scott Kevill, stepped in to assure that the title will stay online through his companies servers. He noted on Reddit, “people are already playing it just fine on GameRanger, and will continue to after May 31. (I’ve already simulated it with GameSpy blocked and cut-off.)”

It’s worth noting that the GameRanger has recently added support for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: Combat Evolved Demo, and Halo: Custom Edition keeping these Halo titles functional beyond the imminent shutdown.
