A recent interview revealed a couple of interesting details regarding Star Wars Jedi Survivor. The Star Wars-themed action RPG recently had a gameplay trailer premiere at The Game Awards, and we now know a little more about Jedi Survivor’s combat.

Game Director Stig Asmussen shared some information regarding the game with Game Informer. One particular tidbit revealed that the game will feature five complete fighting stances for players to try out as Cal Kestis.

A lot of it depends on the enemy that you’re coming across. It’s advantageous to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it’s up to the player to figure that out. It requires the player to break down the enemies and figure out what the best weapon of choice is.

One of the stances that players will be able to try out is a dual blade stance, which features high mobility and fast movements. It’s not something that you’d typically see of a Jedi, but there’s a reason for it, as Asmussen explains.

It’s five years since the first game, and the dark times are still in full swing. He’s an unconventional Jedi, and he has to do unconventional things. So, something that would be frowned upon during the height of the Jedi Order? Cal’s finding he’s going to do whatever it takes.

Jedi Survivor will also introduce some new characters, thanks in part to the five-year time skip that occurs between this game and the previous title, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. One such character is Bode Akuna, a mercenary. Bode plays as a “buddy A.I.” that helps Cal throughout the game.

He and Cal form a special bond. It’s almost like they’re brothers. And they’re not exactly the same, but they really do complement each other.

Finally, Jedi Survivor will also apparently have more options when it comes to exploring, with the ability to cross vast distances in various ways.

Cal can cross huge gaps by chaining several types of skills together. But it’s also about how we approach these mounts and how they’re used to negotiate and dominate the world.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is set to release on March 17 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
