Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS4, Xbox One Versions in “Early Stages of Development”

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS4,

While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Director Stig Asmussen already explained months ago why the game isn’t on last-gen consoles, it seems EA isn’t on the same wavelength, as the publisher just confirmed the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS4, Xbox One versions.

Speaking during today’s quarterly earnings report, EA mentioned that the game is in the “early stages stages of development” of being ported to last-gen consoles. There’s no word on a release date or timeframe just yet, as well.

For those worried that this means that the current-gen versions of the game are being left with its bugs to fester and whatnot, EA has said, “Additional performance improvements for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remain a top priority at Respawn and the team will share more information as soon as the next update is ready.”

Given how taxing Jedi: Survivor was on the current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Seres X|S), I shudder to think at how it’ll perform on last-gen hardware. Of course, there could be a fair bit of compromise to make it run better, but given Survivor’s issues still aren’t completely fixed months after release doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

Released this April, we gave Jedi: Survivor a fair 8/10 score in our review, and said, “Respawn hasn’t hit the dreaded Sophomore Slump with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but it’s not the massive follow-up that a lot of people (including this reviewer) were hoping for. It manages to keep the status quo in providing a fantastic Star Wars experience, but one that’s marred by technical issues. Don’t get me wrong, this sequel is definitely a must-play for any Star Wars fan, but it could have been so much more, given more time and polish.”
