Star Wars Outlaws Box Confirms Internet Required to Install Game, Story Details Revealed in Dev Diary

Star Wars Outlaws internet connection

Following today’s release date, new trailer and different editions reveal for Star Wars Outlaws, more info regarding the game has surfaced, and this one might not sit well with quite a few people, as it looks like an internet connection is required for players to install Star Wars Outlaws.

This was highlighted in the Star Wars Outlaws game box (via Wario64):

As you can see in the lower left hand side, it states “Internet required to install the game,” which is odd considering Outlaws is a single-player game.

Aside from that tidbit of info, a new developer diary breaking down the new Outlaws story trailer has been pushed out, which reveals quite a fair bit of story details.

Here’s a summary of what’s in the four-minute clip (via shinobi602):

  • Confirmed syndicates: Zerek Besh, Pyke, Hutt Cartel, Crimson Dawn, Ashiga Clan (new, collab between Massive and LucasFilm)
  • Sliro is one of the galaxy’s underworld elites, leading a criminal syndicate called Zerek Besh
  • The player will form tense alliances with each syndicate
  • Various gameplay and narrative opportunities depending on your actions
  • Pulling off “one of the greatest heists the galaxy has ever seen” is a key plot line\
  • The player will travel the galaxy recruiting companions
  • A powerful bounty hunter “Vail” is hunting you
  • The story will see you cross paths with Jabba the Hutt and his cartel on Tattoine and other planets
  • The reputation you build with the syndicates will affect the game, including vendors, the jobs you take on, support, and access to certain territories

We’ve reached out to Ubisoft to inquire why the single-player game needs an internet connection to install, and will update the article if we hear anything back.

Update: A Ubisoft rep has replied to our email stating, “An online connection will be required to install the game and for any updates, but otherwise can be played offline.”

This game is going to be garbage. Ubisoft hasnt made anything good in years. They have like 3 templates and just reuse them over and over with diminishing results.
Far Cry, Assassins Creed, & The Division.
So which will it be?
I actually dont care. Star Wars is dead.
