Starfield is a massive game, so unsurprisingly, Bethesda has tucked away quite a few Easter eggs throughout its universe. One of these eggs just so happens to be in reference to perhaps The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s most famous adventurer line.
As posted by Reddit user Kinevi1, one of the random NPCs found in the game had this to say about their past life.
For those who don’t know exactly what this is referencing, it’s a callback to a line used by many of the guards in Skyrim. The exact phrasing is “I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took an arrow to the knee.” What makes this even more funny is that not only is this NPC referencing another game, but they also seem to be acknowledging that it has been over a decade since the game was released, thus the “long story” comment.
This isn’t the only reference to this Easter egg either, as there is a skill called “crippling” that players can unlock. At first, it doesn’t appear to be anything special, showing a knee bone. However, upon seeing the different stages of levels, the image of the knee begins to change with every level, eventually showing off a knee with an arrow shot through it.
We’re sure there are plenty of more nods to Skyrim and Fallout to be found within Starfield. I for one cannot wait to see what else the community finds, and I am sure we’ll be uncovering new stuff in the coming days, weeks, months, and even potentially years, so make sure to keep an eye out.
