Street Fighter 35th Anniversary Logo Revealed by Capcom

Street Fighter

This year marks a big celebration for one of the most recognizable fighting game franchises ever made, as the Street Fighter 35th anniversary logo has been revealed by Capcom, honoring three and a half decades of the world warriors and beyond!

Here’s the brand new logo as seen in the official Street Fighter Twitter page.

First released in August of 1987 in Japanese arcades, the first Street Fighter game was not the revolutionary fighter that many would recall instantly, but it did introduce mainstay characters Ryu and Ken, as well as their iconic special moves such as the Hadouken and Shoryuken. A few years later in 1991, it would get a direct sequel in Street Fighter 2, which evolved the concept and introduced mechanics that would serve as the template for the fighting game genre as we know it today. Street Fighter 2’s success would spawn several more sequels and spin-offs, as well as direct competition in the form of rival companies creating their own iconic franchises such as SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series of games.

While the series continues to thrive and remain relevant to this day with its latest installment in Street Fighter 5, that game has more or less finished its run of new content, especially with the release of its final Season 5 DLC character Luke. All eyes are locked towards the inevitable release of a brand new sequel, and hopefully Capcom takes advantage and brings us a 35th anniversary celebration to remember with surprises later this year!
