Tekken 8 Officially Announced, Trailer Shows Gameplay (Update)

tekken 8 confirmed

Teased at this year’s EVO Fighting Championships, Bandai Namco have finally confirmed the existence of Tekken 8 at the PlayStation State of Play event! Not only that, but a scant few seconds of gameplay was also shown off.

Watch the full announcement trailer below:

Rendered in real-time at 60 frames-per-second on the PS5, the trailer is taken directly from Tekken 8’s story mode, featuring the series’ legendary father-and-son duo Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama trading blows.

From the start, one cannot help but notice the incredible graphical improvements that have been made over the series’ last installment, Tekken 7. A storm surrounds Jin and Kazuya, and each individual rain droplet that hits the characters’ skin is rendered in gorgeous detail. The game’s notoriously realistic hitboxes have somehow improved even further, with the trailer making a point of displaying how Jin and Kazuya evade each other’s attacks by mere inches.

No release date has been announced for the game, but it is very likely that the game will be coming to PC as well besides the PS5.

After seven years and 19 DLCs, 2015’s Tekken 7’s journey has finally concluded. We can’t wait to see where Tekken 8 will lead the franchise.

Update: More info straight from the press release sent by Bandai Namco.

Tekken 8 is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is confirmed to be headed to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam).
