Texas Chain Saw Massacre Won’t Feature Bots or Offline Play, Devs Explain Why

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Invite Bug

While Friday the 13th: The Game featured bots via the Virtual Cabin, this is one feature Gun Interactive isn’t carrying over to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Speaking to MP1st, the studio confirmed that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre won’t feature bots or offline play, and they explain why.

MP1st: PvP is nice and all, but has the team thought about potentially adding offline bots? What about an offline mode in general? People were really fond of the Virtual Cabin from Friday the 13th, I’m sure most would love to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre get a similar mode.

A: We did not consider offline bots for this title. We learned a lot from Friday the 13th and the time that is required to make a feature like that. Believable bots in games are incredibly time consuming and difficult to do well. This would have cut our main game features back dramatically, thus impacting the overall experience we wanted to create.
That was our focus. Push the asymmetrical horror genre forward as much as possible. And that comes from an unwavering goal of creating a unique PvP experience steeped in the world of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

While Gun Interactive is saying that there aren’t any bots or an offline mode planned for release, it’s important to note that this doesn’t mean it’s entirely off the table. Take Friday the 13th: The Game for example, Gun Interactive’s previous game that was also online focused. It eventually received an update that added offline bots.

Though considering since the announcement of the title, we aren’t all that surprised to see it’s heavy online focus, since you know, that’s what’s been said since day one.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be released this August 18 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will feature a more “traditional” type of DLC rather than a Battle Pass.

So when the license expires you can’t play the game anymore. Judging by Friday the 13th, they can’t handle licensing properly. Well done not pleasing the fan base.

That’s an easy automatic pass for me. As someone else said, I don’t buy games with expiration dates. If this flops, or when people obviously move on to the next “thing”, then the game will just die. Sorry if it was too hard for the developers, but then get better at what you do.

Offline bots are ESSENTIAL. I hate people online and will never play as anyone but Leatherface. Also, they need to put in a skin for TCM2’s Leatherface.

If they don’t come through with both, I will never buy this game, and I’m a huge fan.
