While The Callisto Protocol isn’t even out yet, Game Director Glen Schofield, best known as the co-creator of Dead Space, admitted his desire to make a The Callisto Protocol sequel already — should the game be successful when it launches in December, of course. He also expressed his lukewarm opinions on the upcoming Dead Space remake, wishing its developers well regardless.

While player success may be a secondary priority, success for the game itself could very well lead into a sequel:
I want to make a sequel. This is a complete game, but there’s a lot of ideas, cool ideas, we want to do next. I always want to keep making the next big thing. Even after I finish a game, I’m already thinking what’s next.
Much of the fanfare The Callisto Protocol is receiving is thanks to its similarities to the Dead Space franchise, of which Schofield was a co-creator. As the remake of the original title releases shortly after The Callisto Protocol, Schofield expressed a mild displeasure about the idea of a Dead Space remake:
I wish them the absolute best, but I don’t really know anything about it. I don’t really want to know anything about it. They have extremely talented people over there, but… honestly, if it were me, I wouldn’t remake it. I am glad for them, but I wouldn’t. I want to move on and make something new. Dead Space is in my past.
The Callisto Protocol crawls out this December 2 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Fans can pre-order any of the game’s three editions now, including the GameStop Exclusive Collector Edition.
