The Calllisto Protocol Not Connected to PUBG Universe Anymore

The Callisto Protocol pc requirements

When Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol was announced last year, it was marketed as a sci-fi horror game that tied into the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) universe, which was a bit odd when you think about it. Today, Striking Distance Founder and CEO Glen Schofield has announced that this universe tie-in has been severed.

Over on Twitter, Schofield announced that The Callisto Protocol was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but it grew into its own world. The former Dead Space co-creator also added that they have a few “little surprises” for PUBG fans, but reiterated that the upcoming horror game is its own world, story and universe.

FYI @CallistoTheGame is its own story and world. It no longer takes place in the PUBG Universe. It was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world. PUBG is awesome, &we will still have little surprises for fans, but TCP is its own world, story and universe.

This is definitely good news, as The Callisto Protocol can now thrive on its own, and the devs won’t need to worry about making sure the two universes are connected. While there’s still no firm release date for the game, Krafton reiterated that it’s still due out this year, and will be a “AAAA” experience.
