The Day Before Servers Will Shutdown Completely This January, Just 45 Days After Launch

The Day Before server shutdown

With Fntastic announcing their closure a few weeks back and support for The Day Before ending , it was only a matter of time before the game became completely unplayable. And well, that day will be sooner rather than later, as the now closed-down studio has shared that The Day Before servers will be completely offline on January 22, 2024.

Taking to Twitter/X, Fntastic gave an update on the game’s status, saying that the servers will officially shut down on January 22. Though from the sound of it, it doesn’t seem like players will even be able to stick around long enough, as Steam is also proactively refunding players who haven’t done so yet.

“Dear Community

We regret to inform you that the development company Fntastic has officially ceased operations, and as a result The Day Before will be retired and the servers will be turned off on 22 January 2024.

As previously communicated, Mytona, as the investor, has been working in collaboration with Steam to facilitate refunds for all game purchasers. For any players that have not already had their purchase refunded, Steam will now proactively refund all remaining players.

We extend our gratitude for the community’s support throughout the project’s life. Unfortunately, without a development team, we had no alternative choice but to officially close the project.

We sincerely thank all our supporters throughout this journey and wish you all a happy holiday season.”

For those who haven’t heard, the reason behind Fntastic shutdown is due The Day Before being a commercial failure. This was determined just days after the game had launched, with Fntastic noting that they lacked the funds to continue support. Those who did manage to purchase and play the game didn’t have many positive things to say about it, as the game was in a near-broken state.

Though we suppose many could have seen that coming, as well, throughout the game’s development, many documented how the studio had blatantly ripped off from countless games in their marketing material. Many called it a scam, with the studio firing back and telling players not to call it such. Despite their determination to prove otherwise, the game launched, and the opinion about it was only amplified by the state the game was in. It had only been a few days after the studio had announced they were closing down.

Many feared that they were going to run off with the money of those who purchased it, but fortunately, they didn’t and have been issuing refunds since.
