The Finals Aim Assist Explained In-Depth and How Aim Snapping Doesn’t Have a Breaking Point

The Finals Aim Assist

For those playing The Finals using a controller, how are you liking the game’s aim assist so far? Just right? Too sticky to the target? Regardless of your preference, this The Finals aim assist explanation will offer more clarity on how it works

Courtesy of Reddit user thwoc, check out the video below to see an in-depth explanation of how the game’s aim snapping manages to be a tad too generous, as well as how it doesn’t seem to factor in distance as well, which can lead to some frustrating deaths, I presume.

In the same video, its explained how there is recoil smoothing in The Finals (which, in conjunction with aim snapping and rotational aim assist means there is super minimal recoil present if you or a target is strafing. For those unaware, recoil smoothing is a mechanic in shooters where vertical recoil is removed if your aim is moving horizontally above a certain threshold.  Again, all these claims are backed with video evidence.

Of course, this isn’t a cut-and-dry situation (balancing in games rarely is), so there is a reason Embark Studios chose to do this for the game. I mean, it’s not like the devs are new to the whole online multiplayer shooter party, as quite a fair few number of the devs at the studio came from DICE, which is the studio behind the Battlefield franchise.

For those playing The Finals, what are your thoughts on aim assist in the game? Just right or does it need adjustments?
