Announced yesterday, Embark Studios’ The Finals open beta is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC! While this is the shooter’s first beta test on consoles, it’s not going as planned, sadly, as crashing issues have plagued players before they can even play a single match.
Per our own experience, launching the game client on consoles (we tested on PS5), crashes the game without even reaching the title screen! Sadly, this seems to be happening to a lot of players. Embark has acknowledged The Finals beta PS5 and Xbox Series X|S crashing issues, and has issued a statement about it.

Contestants!
It’s so awesome to see so many jumping into the open beta!
We know there’s an issue causing client crashes for Xbox & PlayStation players, and we’re about to roll out a fix within the next few hours. Finding and fixing issues like these is why we run beta tests, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your patience and help!
If you’re still waiting to play The Finals on Steam, hang in there! Millions of you have signed up for playtesting and the system is rolling out access gradually.
In the meantime, go check out what to expect in The Finals beta right here. If you’re curious what rewards you can earn that will carryover to the game’s release (whenever that might be), go check ’em out here.
We also posted our hands-on impressions of the game alongside a ton of gameplay for those curious.
Update: The Finals open beta is now live across PC and consoles and shouldn’t be crashing anymore.
Thanks for being so patient with us as we sorted out a few hickups! 🫶
