It seems there is a problem if your game gets a little bit too popular, as The Finals is down with server issues this December 22 on all platforms, with gamers reporting error code “TFLAA0002” showing up in the login screen.

Update 2: Here’s the latest announcement from Embark via their Discord server:
“Not a very thrilling update but…
We’re still chipping away and working on the authentication errors we are experiencing with Steam. Still getting to the root of the problem, but the on call team is hard at work.
We will let you know when the work is done.
As for Discord: We have closed some channels and put others in slow mode still while we try to clean up all the spam messages sent our way. Hopefully soon we’ll be back in business.”
Update: While Embark has yet to issue a new status update, players are now managing to get back in. We can verify that the servers are back up for us, though that may not be the case for everyone. If you still can’t sign in, give it a few minutes and retry.

There’s more of that, but you get the idea. So far, Embark Studios has not said anything about it just yet, though I imagine that should change very soon. Once the studio releases a statement or we have an update to report on the situation, we’ll be sure to update the article, so refresh this from time to time, and share to your co-players so they know what’s happening.
This downtime comes hot at the heels of Embark announcing that the game has been played by over 10 million players since it launched just over a week ago.
