The Finals Surprises Players With Kill Cams, But Mysteriously Won’t Be Available on Xbox Series S & PS4

One of the most requested features for The Finals is finally coming, and we’re talking about kill cams, which Embark Studios has dubbed “Instant Replays.”

This is part of today’s major Season 8 update; however, the feature isn’t available on every platform at launch.

You Can Finally See How You Got Eliminated in The Finals

“Kill cams,” or more accurately, Instant Replays are now available in The Finals as part of the launch of Season 8. At the moment, the feature is currently in the beta stage, meaning there’s a good chance that it may eventually leave the game before returning in a more fleshed-out and polished version.

Interestingly enough, the feature isn’t going to be available on every platform, with it skipping out on PS4, some PC builds (to be determined), and even the Xbox Series S.

Embark explained via the press release, “A major addition aimed at boosting competitive clarity and supporting skill development. Players can now replay intense gameplay moments linked directly to their opponent’s point of view, making it easier to identify the exact source of eliminations. Instant Replay has been a significant but fulfilling development challenge and is currently in BETA with ongoing improvements. (Note: This feature will not be compatible with Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and certain PC builds at launch.)”

While the Battlefield 6 Open Beta was a resounding success, there was one topic that wasn't answered then, and still hasn't been answered now: does the game play better with closed or open weapon for classes? For those unaware, an "open" class sytem for weapons means any class can equip any weapon.

No specific details were given on why it’s missing from some platforms, though; given the age of the PS4, it might simply be due to hardware limitations, given that the PS4 and the much-weaker Xbox Series S were mentioned.

This may be why they note “certain PC builds,” and although the Xbox Series S is considered current-gen, it may also be a technical issue with the platform.

With Instant Replay being in beta, that of course could change down the road as Embark continues to work on the feature, optimization and fixing any bugs related to it before it fully launches later.

Only time will tell, but for now, the feature will only be on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and PCs that meet the specs.
