The Witcher 3 New DLC “Songs of the Past” Announced for 2027 Release
Last year, we reported that new DLC was in development for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Today, that rumor has become a reality, as CD Projekt RED has officially announced The Witcher 3’s third expansion titled “Songs of the Past.”
It’s due for release sometime in 2027 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Details about this new DLC are scarce, but CD Projekt RED confirms this will once again feature Geralt as the main character.
The Witcher 3 DLC 3 Announced
Songs of the Past is officially the third expansion for The Witcher 3, and it will launch sometime in 2027 for current-gen consoles and PC.
CD Projekt RED is co-developing teh game with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising of industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3. Expect more details about the expansion to be shared in “late summer 2026.”
This new DLC will have players take on the role of Geralt of Rivia for a brand-new adventure. While nothing has been mentioned about it, we’re guessing that this new DLC will somehow tie into The Witcher 4, even if the sequel is set in the future and features Ciri as the protagonist.
Speaking of that game, CDPR gave us our first look at a tech demo that looks to be gameplay, though the developers are adamant that what we’ve seen is not the game itself.
Another related tidbit about the franchise is that The Witcher 4, 5, and 6 will be released over a six-year period, which means we won’t have to wait as long between franchise entries.
If you haven’t played The Witcher 3, I suggest changing that ASAP — especially since the game is usually heavily discounted alongside its two excellent expansions.
