The Witcher and The Witcher 2 Mac System Requirements Are Being Changed

The Witcher 2 Mac System Requirements

CD Projekt Red has revealed that they plan to bring Apple silicon M1, M2, and macOS Ventura compatibility to The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in a month’s time. That means higher system requirements will soon be needed to play these titles, and if you’re on the older systems you won’t be able to play the updated versions of these games.

The Witcher and The Witcher 2 Mac System Requirements

We will be discontinuing support for OS X 10.7.5, OS X 10.8.2, macOS 10.15, and changing the new minimum macOS requirement to macOS 11.0. This is because the technology we are using, the JIT-compatible memory management and Apple’s Game Controller framework, require a minimum version of macOS 11.0. These updates are necessary to provide support to Apple silicon chips.

If you wish to continue playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, just keep the current version of the games. Doing so is quite simple: just go to the digital store from where you purchased the games, and disable automatic updates. Remember that if you uninstall, they will be reinstalled with the latest update. However, if you own the games on GOG, you have the option to roll back to an earlier version.

CD Projekt Red has provided a 30-day advance notice to Mac players to make the necessary adjustments before discontinuing support for old operating systems.
