There Won’t Be a The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Mode

The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer

Given The Last of Us had a robust multiplayer mode, it’s understandable that its sequel, The Last of Us: Part II (stylized as The Last of Us 2) will be getting one a well, well that ain’t happening. It’s been confirmed that The Last Of Us 2  multiplayer mode won’t be happening after all, according to statements from both Naughty Dog Lead Game Designer Emilia Schatz to USGamer and a representative from Sony.

According to the statements, The Last of Us 2 will strictly be a single-player experience. This comes opposite to what we know so far given the leaks that made its way out.

“We’re focusing on a single-player experience, so we’re just making a single-player game for this.”

While it is somewhat disappointing that the multiplayer mode has been scrapped, it doesn’t really come as a surprise as single-player games with multiplayer modes tacked on have really gone out of style. Not to say that The Last of Us’ multiplayer was tacked on, but it’s understandable of Naughty Dog to focus more on the single-player narrative than divide its teams to focus on two things. And hey, who says they can’t add it post-launch, right?

The Last of Us 2 is scheduled for release on February 21, 2020, on the PlayStation 4. You can check out the new story and release date trailer below:

id rather have more coop implementation in games.

tlou has amazing gameplay mechanics which are super fun to play. even more so when there is a friend.
you already have an annoying npc following you everywhere you go.

you may aswell just make him a playable character.

boom. sales doubled.

That sounds cool and something doable. Should fare better than a standard PvP mode…
