Unintended Xbox Live Marketplace Error Causes Price Spike After Recent Beta Update, Microsoft Responds

If you’re one of the few who were lucky enough to get into the latest beta test for the Xbox 360, you may have witnessed a bit of an unintentional price spike for items on the marketplace.

Originally, the beta was intended to replace the current currency of Microsoft Points with real life currency.

Despite being under NDA, users were still very vocal about the recent changes in price on sites such as NeoGaf and Reddit. Thankfully, gamers won’t need to worry anymore, as a Microsoft representative recently told VG247, “We are aware that select regions experienced some incorrect game title pricing in the Xbox Live beta. This was an unintended error that we are in the process of fixing.”

“We’ll be reimbursing impacted beta participants for the difference in what was paid and what the price will be after the update is available to all members,” the Microsoft representative added.

You can expect the latest Xbox 360 update, which features a change of currency type, to be available sometime later this year.
