The VR gaming space and modding community just had one of its biggest achievements, as a new mod has been released that brings free VR support to over 11,000 PC titles running on Unreal Engine 4 and 5.
Created by Pradog, (Unreal Engine VR) UEVR aims to bring VR support to several thousands of PC titles running on newer Unreal Engine 4 (4.8) and 5 versions. It works universally across thousands of titles, though that goes without saying that you may run into issues and experiences that aren’t fully optimized with the mod. That is understandable, as this is a mod after all.
Luckily there’s a community of testers who have been testing the mod on many Unreal Engine titles, marking them down on this spreadsheet on what works and doesn’t.
Below is a bit of information about the mod, such as features, and currently tested VR headsets.

UEVR is a tinkerers dream come true! Crash works better third person due to the way the camera works in that game but MAN… to be able to load up and push it into first person like this within 60seconds or so? Crazy stuff. pic.twitter.com/o4vUxsiwbp
The last time I played this, it was on console. I felt like a badass then. But then #UEVR came around and gave us a free mod that allowed me to play in VR on PC. Holy Sh*t balls, what ride this is in VR!! Surviv0r approved! 👊🏻🍺 pic.twitter.com/dueDfFEit0

If you want to try it out yourself, head on over to the official UEVR website, which has detailed instructions.
It’s absolutely insane to see a mod like this released and have this many games support it right out of the box. Cannot wait to see where things go, and with this now being public, we’re sure there are going to be massive improvements made to the mod. It may not be perfect now, but in a year, probably less, you’ll have a handful of major titles that can be playable in VR.
